THRISSUR: The Sangh Parivar is sharpening its attacks against Kerala as the state can play a pivotal role in the struggle against fascism, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said here on Monday.
He was speaking at the seminar ‘Importance of Struggle Against Fascist Agenda’ organised jointly by Deshabhimani and CPM Thrissur local committee.

“Kerala is a role model for an alternative politics against fascism, which is spreading across the state,” Yechury said.“As they realise the Communist movement is leading, they are targeting it. They are also aware, across the nation, the Communists are not powerful enough. But, at the same time, they are also aware the Communist Party is the only one to resist the fascists. Fascism is not merely the change of governance, but it completely tries to change the system. They are trying to take over completely and are aiming for autocracy. It neglects equality, brotherhood and freedom.”

On the other hand, he said, Communism believes in keeping democracy intact. “Fascism creates enemies. Muslim, Christians and Communists are their enemies, just as the Jews were seen as the enemies under the regime of Hitler. They try to topple the social values prevalent in society. They also aim to topple the parliamentary system. These are the agenda of fascism,” he said.
