THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The controversial rape case involving Swami Gangesananda Theerthapadar took a strange turn with his advocate producing a letter before the court, apparently written by the victim, refuting the rape allegations.

The letter stated the rape allegations were concocted by the police. She and her family shared a good relationship with Swami. Defence advocate Sasthamangalam Ajithkumar produced the letter while moving a bail application for the accused. He said he received the letter by post the other day. The court has called for the case diary before the hearing.

In the letter, the victim stated Swami had not attempted to rape her. She said three former aides of Swami instigated her to harm him. The aides are Ayyappadas, Manoj Murali and Ajithkumar. The victim said she attempted to chop the Swami’s genital, but did not succeed.

She was provoked by Ayyappadas’ words Swami was looting her family’s money. Before she could complete the task, he woke up and screamed and she ran out of the house.  As directed by Ayyappadas, she went to ADGP B Sandhya’s residence and rang the calling bell.

But no one came out following which she dialled the emergency number 100. The police took her to the Pettah station, where her statement was recorded. She cannot read or write Malayalam and hence could not vet the statement.
