Kerala investment board clears projects worth Rs 8,041 crore

KIIFB gave the nod after going through a host of projects worth Rs 11,388 cr submitted by various departments.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) on Tuesday cleared basic development projects worth Rs 8,041 crore in the second phase, swelling the total projects cost approval to Rs 12,063 crore.

Roads, bridges, potable water, health, education, SC/ST development and power transmission grid will come under the projects’ ambit.

The 28th meeting of the KIIFB, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, gave the nod after going through a host of projects worth Rs 11,388 crore submitted by various departments.

In the first phase, projects to the tune of Rs 4,022 crore were sanctioned. Tender process of various projects, cleared in the first phase, are currently on. The Health Department and PWD have completed the tender formalities of some projects and started their implementation.

The meeting expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the first phase projects. The meeting also gave its nod to the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme to transfer funds from KIIFB to various stakeholders, including service donors, suppliers and contractors.

Apart from CM, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, Planning Board vice-chairman V K Ramachnadran, Chief Secretary S M Vijayanand, Law Secretary B G Hareendranath, Economic Affairs Resource Secretary Minhaj Alam, KIIFB independent members D Babupaul, C P Chandrasekhar, Salim Gangadharan, J N Guptha, Radhakrishnan Nair, Sudipto Mandal and Finance Secretary K M Abraham also attended the meeting.
