Two DYFI activists allegedly attacked by four-member SDPI gang in Kannur

KANNUR: Two DYFI activists were allegedly hacked and injured by a four-member gang of SDPI (the political wing of Popular Front of India) in Puthiyatheru early on Thursday.

According to the police, the victims were identified as Puthiyatheru DYFI unit secretary Rafique (25) and Arshid. Police said that a four-member gang allegedly attacked the duo.

While Rafique was attacked near Puthiyatheru Ashari Company at 8.45 am on Thursday morning, the same gang has reportedly hacked Arshid on Wednesday night at about 9 pm, police said.

Both the victims have been admitted to the AKG Hospital. Following the attack, the situation is tense at Puthiyatheru, and police forces have been deployed in the area. Valapattinam police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
