KOCHI: In a major breather to CBSE students awaiting Class X results, the Kerala High Court on Friday directed the state government to keep open the last date for submitting application for Plus-One three working days after declaration of CBSE Class X results.

A Division Bench issued the order while disposing of the appeal filed by the state government challenging the order of a Single Judge extending the last date till June 9. The court stated around 72,000 appear for Class X examination under the CBSE curriculum in the state. If the last date is not extended, all these students will be deprived of admission to schools of their choice for Plus-One, it stated.

The state government submitted if the Single Judge’s order is implemented, the whole schedule of admission will be adversely affected and the classes will be delayed. To this, the court stated: “It is a myopic view”. The rights of children to receive education as per their choice have to be considered, it said.
The CBSE submitted the Class X results is expected to be declared within the second week of June.

Thus, even the date fixed by the Single Judge may not serve the purpose. Considering this, the Division Bench modified the order .The government should repeatedly publish the news regarding the last date for admission so that parents are ready to apply online as soon as they get the marklist of their children.
