Outlaws rob Rs 10.5L from unguarded ATM kiosk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Desperados on Friday decamped with `10.5 lakh after burgling an unguarded ATM kiosk of a public sector bank at Kariavattom here. The incident came to light when the SBI representatives reached the kiosk around 5.30 pm to deposit money in the ATM machine.

They found the vault of the ATM had been prised open with a gas cutter and the cash missing. They immediately reported the matter to the Kazhakoottam police and a case was registered.

The robbers were identified from the CCTV footage and a manhunt has been launched to nab them. The gang entered the kiosk from the rear side after cutting open the wall. The ATM precisely at Ambalathinkara had been refilled on Thursday night. One of the cameras installed inside the counter was also found to be damaged.  


A Pramod Kumar, ACP, Cybercity told Express,  “It is learnt the last transaction made from the machine was at 1 am on Friday and `500 was  withdrawn. The investigation is on,” he said.
