Kerala CM to inaugurate first IT building of Kozhikode Cyberpark on Monday

Cyberpark in Kozhikode has been conceptualised as a major IT hub catering to the northern part of Kerala for the development of IT/ITeS sector in the State, a release stated.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the first multi-tenanted IT building of Cyberpark, in Kozhikode district tomorrow.     

The 'Sahya' is a 2,88,000 sq.ft multi-storeyed building constructed over five acres of land at the notified Special Economic Zone area.     

With the launch, Kerala will have a large amount of IT space ready for companies planning to set up their business in North Kerala region, official sources said. The ground floor of the new building has six units, ready to occupy, ranging from 25 seaters to 71 seaters. The first floor has been developed as a Smart Business Centre with plug-and-play facility with 19 units ranging from 12 seats to 42 seaters, a release here said.     

The top three floors will be leased out as warm shell spaces, it said.   

 Cyberpark is being developed on 43.5 acres by Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd which already houses the administrative office, The Park Centre that was inaugurated in 2013. "One of Kerala government's major thrust area in IT is to promote Kozhikode as the next IT destination like it has been successful with Technopark here and Infopark in Kochi," said IT Parks CEO, Hrishikesh Nair.     

"For us, the priority is to make this first IT building fully occupational.. We are receiving lot of inquiries from companies in the region and also companies based especially in the GCC countries for space in Cyberpark," he said.     

Basic facilities like robust infrastructure, excellent digital connectivity, in-house power distribution, 100 per cent power back up with an eco-friendly environment are all in place for companies to start operations, he said. The official said they were in the process of creating additional 6000 sq.ft of IT built-up space for startup companies as second phase development.     

"We are also working on creating recreational facilities for IT employees in the park and also facilitate cloud service, wi-fi in the campus," Nair said.

Kozhikode is also home to UL Cyberpark which has an IT building of five lakh sq.ft with 24 companies operational from there.     

Kerala government manages the infrastructure of UL Cyberpark as well. Calicut Forum For IT (CaFIT), a group formed by 40 IT companies based out of Kozhikode are also very active in promoting Kozhikode as the next IT destination, it added.
