Min calls for rational use of antibiotics

Health Minister K K Shylaja on Tuesday inaugurated the Antibiotic Awareness Week celebrations here, calling upon the public to control the use of antibiotics.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister K K Shylaja on Tuesday inaugurated the Antibiotic Awareness Week celebrations here, calling upon the public to control the use of antibiotics. “The government has already formulated an Antibiotic Policy and is for bringing in antibiotic policy for each of the hospital in the state. The doctors should see that they prescribe fewer antibiotics,” she said. 

Shylaja said the Health Department was for reducing the use of antibiotics and protecting the health of the people. It was with this aim that awareness classes and campaigns have been planned during the Antibiotic Week celebrations. she said.
