‘Panthranduvilakku’ to be celebrated today

‘Panthranduvilakku’, one of the important days of the pilgrimage season, will be celebrated at the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple on Monday.

SABARIMALAl: ‘Panthranduvilakku’, one of the important days of the pilgrimage season, will be celebrated at the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple on Monday.

Thantri Mahesh Mohanaru will perform the brahmakalasam pooja at the Mandapam of the temple in the presence of melsanthi A V Unnikrishnan Nampoothiri at 10.30 am.

The ritual will conclude with kalabhabhishekam on Lord Ayyappa’s idol during Uchcha pooja after the procession carrying brahmakalasam circumambulates the sreekovil of the temple.

Heavy flow of pilgrims continues

The heavy flow of pilgrims continued for the third day on Sunday. Thousands of devotees were held up in long queues for darshan of Lord Ayyappa at the Fly-over, Holy Steps, Lower Thirumuttam and Valiyanadapandal. The queue extended up to Marakkoottam when the hill shrine opened for darshan.

Early opening of the temple

The sreekovil opened at 3 am against the usual time of 3.30 am due to heavy rush of pilgrims seen since Saturday evening. A long queue of devotees was seen for the neyyabhishekam offering which began at 3.20 am and continued till 9.30 am.

More prasadam counters

To prevent long queues in front of the prasadam counter at Lower Thirumuttam, authorities opened six more counters near Malikappuram Nadapandal.
