THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet on Wednesday enhanced the financial assistance for houses under construction under the EMS housing scheme to Rs 4 lakh. Over 55,000 beneficiaries will get the additional assistance. Life Mission CEO Dr Adila Abdulla told Express it was the last opportunity for those who have been sanctioned the houses under the scheme to complete their houses which has been lying incomplete for a long time.

She called upon the panchayat officials, LSG  representatives, social workers and the public to inform the beneficiaries of the scheme so that they can urgently contact the panchayat officials to ensure that  their names are included in the list of any of the housing schemes of the government.

“ Everyone concerned should ensure that those who have been waiting for assistance to complete their houses are not missing the last bus.  Those who have already claimed the amount varying from Rs 40,000 to 72 ,000 will get the balance amount (up to a maximum of Rs 4,00,000). It is time for all concerned to step in to help the beneficiaries complete the houses. Social organisations and individuals in the locality can contribute to complete the houses,” she said.  She said officials would visit the sites of the incomplete houses from October 20 to 27 to prepare the final list of beneficiaries.
