Honours even for UDF, LDF in local body byelection

The LDF and the UDF won six seats each in the by-election held on Thursday to 12 civic body wards in seven districts of the state.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF and the UDF won six seats each in the by-election held on Thursday to 12 civic body wards in seven districts of the state.The LDF won Thazhuthala South ward in Adichanallur grama panchayat (Kollam), Koivila West in Thevalakkara grama panchayat (Kollam), Kariykkamattam ward in Pampady grama panchayat (Kottayam), Manidumkuzhi ward in Kanjirappally grama panchayat (Kottayam), Venmani West in Chengannur block panchayat (Alappuzha) and Munderi ward in Kalpetta municipality (Wayanad).


The UDF won Kollamchina ward in Peruvallur grama panchayat 
(Malappuram), Ramanthali Central ward in Ramanthali grama panchayat (Kannur), Kopparathu HS ward in Kalloor grama panchayat (Alappuzha), Purakkad in Thikkodi grama panchayat (Kozhikode), Kalarikkal in Cherthala South grama panchayat (Alappuzha) and Thumarakkavu ward in Tirur municipality (Malappuram).While the LDF wrested Manidumkuzhi and Venmani West wards from the UDF, the opposition front unseated the LDF from Kopparathu HS ward.
