Pinarayi Vijayan, Ramesh Chennithala lock horns over Kerala Development model

The chief minister bats for Kerala Model of Development while Opposition speaks against it.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Model of Development, considered a touchstone of growth index in the country, has whipped up a political moot point with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan batting for and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala speaking against it.

"Though timely changes have to be brought in, Kerala Model is still very much relevant,’’ said at a function held to honour former chief ministers and speakers as part of the 60th anniversary of the first meeting of the Kerala Assembly. He said this as a reply to Chennithala’s remark there is a need to revisit the Kerala Model.Chennithala had said the relevance of ‘Kerala Model’ has diminished. ‘’Before, we used to brag about the Kerala Model. But there is a need to revisit the model and snap out of its old and archaic ideas, he said.
