THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth Congress state president Dean Kuriakose and vice-president C R Mahesh launched a 48-hour fast in front of the Secretariat, demanding a CBI probe into the murder of YC leader S P Shuhaib and including the criminal conspiracy involving top CPM leaders in the ambit of it.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, who launched the fast, said that the fight will continue till the “real killers” are nabbed and there is no question of accepting the “dummy accused” produced by the CPM before the cops.

“What else is needed as proof for those surrendered and confessed in the murder case as mere ‘dummies’ since they are the very same accused who are listed to be charge-sheeted in another murder case?” he asked.

He repeated the charge that convicts in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case, who were out on parole at the time of Shuhaib’s murder, had a role along with CPM leaders in masterminding and executing the killing. He said the fate of the case could be gauged from the fact that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan took six days to say something about the brutal murder case, which occurred only a few kilometres away from his house in Kannur.

“That none of those who had made a war cry in the open to eliminate Shuhaib were questioned by the police makes it clear that the murder was with the full knowledge of the CPM. Who is Kodiyeri Balakrishnan trying to fool by saying that the CPM has no links with the killers, even after photographs of those surrendered posing with the CM and other CPM leader have come out?” he asked.YC Thiruvananthapuram parliament committee president Vinod Yesudas presided. MLAs V S Sivakumar, M Vincent, K S Sabarinathan, KPCC general secretary Thampanoor Ravi, DCC president Neyyatinkara Sanal and others spoke.
