THRISSUR: With the ongoing CPM state conference under the cloud of murder politics following the recent murder of Youth Congress activist Shuhaib near Mattannur in Kannur,  P Jayarajan, the party’s Kannur district chief, has found himself at the receiving end.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPM state leadership have reportedly communicated their displeasure to the party’s Kannur brass over the Shuhaib incident and Jayarajan’s remarks in this regard. It’s learnt Pinarayi and Kodiyeri communicated their displeasure to Jayarajan at the venue of the state conference.

With party general secretary Sitaram Yechury also rejecting murder politics, Jayarajan found himself nearly isolated at the conference. Earlier also, certain actions by Jayarajan had put the party on tenterhooks.

On Thursday, Kodiyeri reiterated the Shuhaib murder took place without the party’s knowledge.  Stating the CPM did not have any role in the incident, the CPM state chief warned of stringent action if it emerged any party worker was involved in the murder.
