Boy injured in Kerala as country-made bomb explodes

In a freak mishap, a 13-year-old boy was injured when a country-made bomb accidentally exploded while he was searching for a cricket ball near a playground at Kasanakkotta in the district on Saturday.

KANNUR: In a freak mishap, a 13-year-old boy was injured when a country-made bomb accidentally exploded while he was searching for a cricket ball near a playground at Kasanakkotta in the district on Saturday. The injured is Muhammad Rasa Rasheed, 13, son of Rasheed and Rubeena of Kasanakkotta.

The incident occurred when Rasa, a student of CHM School, Varam, was playing cricket along with his friends. While searching for the ball in the bushes, Rasa saw a round object and he hit it with a cricket bat. Suddenly the bomb exploded. Bomb squad and dog squad reached the spot and conducted raids at nearby places. Forensic experts who analysed the remains of the bomb said deadly chemicals were used in the making of the bomb.
