THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress has given a major recognition to the state unit by including four leaders from the state in the newly-constituted Working Committee. While A K Antony, Oomen Chandy and K C Venugopal were nominated to the CWC, P C Chacko was  named the permanent invitee.

When asked for his response, Chandy told Express: “I can’t comment on the CWC post. I am now in Vishakapattanam doing grass root work in Andhra.”

He said he has already covered six  districts in the state and will cover two more districts during this trip. “I will come back and cover the remaining five districts and will complete the first round before July 31,” he said.

Former Union minister of state for home and senior leader Mulappally Ramachandran said the CWC inclusion is indeed a great recognition to the work done by the state unit. “The discipline shown by the leaders and cadres has got the recognition from the AICC president,” he said.

Former KPCC president and senior leader V M Sudheeran congratulated the new CWC nominees from Kerala. “I congratulate the new Congress Working Committee members A K Antony, Oommen Chandy and K C Venugopal and the permanent invitee P C Chacko.

The nominations of these leaders to the highest body of the Indian National Congress is a great recognition to the state unit and this will help the party surge ahead during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.”
