THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Close on the heels of police taking the prime accused in Abhimanyu murder into custody, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan came down heavily on SDPI.

Unleashing a scathing attack on SDPI, Kodiyeri termed it the Indian version of the Islamic State. While pointing at the need to be alert about SDPI, the CPM state chief added political parties should be cautious about SDPI workers intruding into their organisations.

The left government in the state has been drawing flak for delay in arresting the accused in Abhimanyu murder case. The CPM state leadership's soft stance in the issue has also come under attack from various corners.

No Cabinet Revamp on Cards

Currently there are no plans for Cabinet revamp, said CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. Speaking to media here on Wednesday, Kodiyeri said the party leadership meets to begin in a day, has no such agenda. All ministers in the state cabinet are functioning effectively. Hence now there's no need for a cabinet revamp, he said.

Earlier there were reports that with the Pinarayi led Left government completing two years in office, there could be some modifications in the state council of ministers. Speculations are on that senior leader and Central Committee member EP Jayarajan, who had to step down following the nepotism row, may return to the cabinet soon. However both the CPM leadership and the Chief Minister have made no comments in this regard so far.
