KOCHI: Former Ernakulam Rural SP A V George will not be charge-sheeted in the Varapuzha Sreejith custodial death case after the SIT received the legal opinion in this regard, said officers. SIT sources said DG Prosecution Manjeri Sreedharan Nair, however, suggested initiating departmental action against George for illegally constituting the Rural Tiger Force which assaulted Sreejith. The SIT sought to record ex-Paravur magistrate Smitha’s statement after it was alleged she refused to allow Sreejith to be produced at her residence.
