Paytm joins hands with Hunger-Free Kerala

Leading e-commerce payment application Paytm.com has joined the government's flagship programme Hunger-Free Kerala being implemented in the district as pilot project.

Paytm joins hands with Hunger-Free Kerala

ALAPPUZHA: Leading e-commerce payment application Paytm.com has joined the government's flagship programme Hunger-Free Kerala being implemented in the district as pilot project.

People across the country can now contribute donations through the application to support the project by scanning a specially-designed QR Code.

Civil Supplies Minister P Thilothaman inaugurated the code at a function held at Collectorate Conference Hall on Saturday. On the occasion, the minister said the aim of the project is to alleviate hunger from the state.

Though the Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha districts were chosen for the pilot project, Alappuzha was able to implement it successfully, the minister said.The posters of QR code will be pasted on all boats so that it can draw the attention of tourists. It will also be propagated through other public places and private hotels. Tax exemption has been offered by the application administrators for individual remittance.

The first payment using QR Code was made jointly by the minister and Paytm.com regional head (South) Tom Puthenpurackal Jacob. District Collector S Suhas, Sub-Collector V R Krishna Teja and Municipal Chairman Thomas Joseph were among those who attended the function.
