KOCHI: The CPM and state government should stop insulting Sabarimala temple and its traditions, BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan has said. “The CPM and the government are involved in disgracing Sabarimala through their remarks and this should be stopped. Otherwise, the government will witness mass protests, forcing it to impose Section 144 across the state,” he told reporters here on Saturday. Gopalakrishnan demanded the resignation of Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran, who has “declared an open war against the devotees”. “He backtracked from his statement within a few hours activists should not be allowed to go to Sabarimala. Kadakampally should clarify on what ground he backtracked from his earlier stand,” he said.

He also came down heavily against the CPM leaders’ statements the Sabarimala thantri cannot close the temple like “downing the shutters of shops during a shutdown”. If the CPM moves ahead with this stand, the devotees will close the doors of AKG Centre,” he said.   Gopalakrishnan alleged minister E P Jayarajan and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan were behind the trekking of women in police uniform at sabarimala the other day.
