PALAKKAD: In a strongly-worded reply to BJP president Amit Shah, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan warned if the Sangh Parivar forces feel a strong urge to do anything unlawful by hearing the words of their leader, they will end up regretting it.

Addressing a public meeting held in connection with the second state conference of the Pattikajathi Kshema Samithi at the Fort Maidan here on Sunday, Pinarayi said unlike Shah thought, bravado will not be enough to pull the LDF Government down.

“Bravado won’t suffice. Let all these talk be confined to Gujarat. The Kerala Government isn’t one which can be tossed around. No one needs to threaten this state or the elected government which rules it,” said the Chief Minister.

Pinarayi went on to say that though he usually never replies to such trivial talks, he decided to do it this time as several people have lined up behind Shah.

“I’m stating this for them to listen. The government will implement the Supreme Court order. How many years has the BJP tried to gain a foothold in Kerala? Has it succeeded? You don’t have a place in this state,” said Pinarayi.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan said police action in Sabarimala was not against devotees. “Will the believers indulge in violence? Sangh Parivar roped in criminals and sent them to Sabarimala. The government will make arrangements for the believers to reach the temple and pray to Lord Ayyappa. But the government won’t allow those who take law into their own hands and prevent believers from reaching there,” he said.

Pinarayi said it was not the LDF Government which has permitted women of all ages entry into Sabarimala. “The ruling by the Supreme Court’s Constitution Bench was the law of the land. Every elected state government should abide by it,” he said.

He said some people were making moves to spread misinformation on the Sabarimala issue. “A section of the media has been trying to portray the police action as a move against the believers. Some mediapersons who went to Sabarimala were also attacked. They were asked, by coercion, to report news through their angle,” added Pinarayi.
