THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that the Supreme court judgment in Salary Challenge is a setback to the government’s arrogance. He said that it was the Chief Minister’s stubbornness that led to the case being dragged to Supreme court after getting adverse verdict from High court. Ramesh called upon to collect the compensation from the Chief Minister’s salary.

Chennithala said that the verdict was due to government's failure and called upon the government to return the dissent note following the Supreme court order that collecting dissent note for salary challenge would affect the self prestige of the employees. He also called upon the State finance minister Thomas Issac to tender an apology following his public insult of the employees who had given dissent note. Kerala society which struggled and stood as one during the devastating floods and after is now divided due to the salary challenge, Ramesh said.

He called upon the government to rewrite the order on salary challenge so that all employees can contribute the funds protecting their dignity, self respect and financial condition.

He also said that the UDF had called for a separate account for Flood relief funds and this is now becoming more of a necessity as even the Supreme court had already mentioned that there is no confirmation whether the money collected through CMDRF is using for flood relief purposes.
