JHARSUGUDA: Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Jharsuguda, Bandana Kar sentenced Dr Purna Chandra Pradhan of Sitadevi Memorial Seva Trust at Belpahar to three years imprisonment. He was accused of not renewing registration of ultrasound machines installed in the hospital.
Pradhan has been directed to deposit ` 10,000 as fine, in default of payment of which he shall have to undergo an additional six months imprisonment.
Earlier on January 31, former Chief Medical Officer of Central Hospital, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited at Brajrajnagar, Dr Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy and Dr SD Sharma of Sairam Hospital at Beherapa were sentenced for similar offence. Pradhan did not turn up in the court then resulting in a warrant being issued in his name.
He, however, surrendered before the court on Friday.
