KENDRAPARA: More than 2,000 people across Pattamundai, Rajnagar and Rajkanika in Kendrapara district have been duped to the tune of Rs 5 crore by a private finance company, Systematic Financial Services Private Limited. The company is owned by Bhubaneswar-based Aditya Das and his wife Debajani Das.
Three years back, the couple opened a branch of the Systematic Financial Services Private Limited in a rented house at Pokhariapada in Patttamundai town and promised to double the deposited amount in a year. Many depositors also had their amount doubled after a year but suddenly the couple along with some of the employees of the company fled the town.
At least 120 duped customers lodged complaints against the owners and employees of the private finance company on Sunday. The case would be referred to the Economic Offence Control wing of the Crime Branch, said the police officer of Pattamundai police station.
