BHUBANESWAR: A three-day Regional Judicial Conference (East Zone) was held here recently with more than 100 judicial officers of the high courts of West Bengal, Guwahati, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim and Odisha taking part.
The conference, inaugurated by Chief Justice V Gopalagowda of the Orissa High Court, was held on the theme “Role of the court in protection of Human Rights”. Deliberations on violation of human rights and protection of human rights by the courts were held for three days from March 30.
Justice Ananga Kumar Patnaik of Supreme Court, former Supreme Court judge Justice SB Sinha, Sikkim High Court Chief Justice Permod Kohli, Justice J Bagchi of the Calcutta High Court, Justices BP Das, L Mohapatra and BK Patel of the Orissa High Court, Director of National Judicial Academy Dr KNC Pillai and director of Odisha Judicial Academy Dr DP Choudhury participated.
