ROURKELA: One person was nabbed by Rourkela police while trying to cheat some people by posing as a senior veterinary officer.

Identified as Binod Rout alias Sumit Sethi, he was spotted near Nuagaon check gate on Friday evening by some locals and the police were informed. Brahmani Tarang police rushed to the spot and nabbed him as he alighted from a four-wheeler and was walking down a village road. He faked his identity as Binod Rout but, police believe he is Sumit Sethi of Cuttack.

 Investigation has revealed that he was involved in scores of cheating cases across Odisha. Last year during frequent visits to Sundargarh he had defrauded two veterinary personnel of ` 70,000 each in Lahunipara and Gurundia blocks. He is accused of committing a series of frauds running into several lakhs.

 Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal said he was the same person who identified himself as a drugs inspector to cheat a lady shop-keeper of an ayurvedic store at Birmitrapur a few days back.
