CUTTACK: Burglars prised the Heritage Hall of Ravenshaw University open on Sunday night and decamped with electronic and electric items worth over ` 1 lakh.

According to reports, the thieves made away with two amplifiers, a DVD player, a laptop and two speakers. They entered the Hall by breaking the rear entry door on the side of Journalism and Mass Communication Wing. The items were kept in a small storeroom within the Hall. But the storeroom was not locked.

While the University authorities have reported the matter to the police, the issue has raised questions as private security guards have been deployed around the campus to keep guard in the night.  Police said preliminary verifications are on and a forensic team would investigate on Tuesday.
