BHUBANESWAR: Three unidentified miscreants attacked a tea trader near Sishu Bhawan Square in broad daylight on Monday. Dilip Routray was assaulted with sharp weapons in the bustling residential area at around 3.30 pm. He suffered head injuries.

The incident has shocked the locals. Routray, who lives in Satya Nagar area, was going to Sundarpada on a Scooty when a Maruti van intercepted him near the Sishu Bhawan Square. Three youths jumped out of the vehicle and started assaulting him. His gold chain and wallet were robbed too. The miscreants were trying to snatch his mobile phone when locals started to gang up. The attackers fled the scene.

Routray was rushed to Capital Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital later.  The attack on Routray, who belongs to Cuttack’s Bidanasi, appears to be sequel to past enmity. No one has been arrested yet. Investigation is on.
