KOIDA(SUNDARGARH): A newborn was among the family of three killed over suspected sorcery in Kadalia village under Koida police limits of Sundargarh district. The ghastly incident occurred on Monday night.
Police have cracked the murder mystery and identified the absconding suspects. The team led by Bonai SDPO Amresh Panda are yet to locate the bodies.
Police said the family _ Kartik Munda (32), wife Mathili (28) and their 12-day-old baby _ were sleeping in the courtyard of their house on the fateful night when some four villagers beat the trio to death. Police recovered a blood-stained crowbar and two sticks used in the crime.
The SDPO said after the murders the culprits dragged the bodies to a distance of 50 metres and used a tipper to ferry those for disposal at an unknown location.
During investigation they have zeroed in on Kartik’s immediate neighbour who is suspected to have committed the crime. The neighbour suspected Kartik’s family of practising witchcraft against his family. Police asserted that the accused would be nabbed and bodies recovered soon. A case has been registered.
