BHUBANESWAR: InSkills (Skill Ventures Ltd) Odisha launched their skill development  ventures in collaboration with Bourneville College, UK to train the students to make them suited for the market.

InSkills Director and CEO Tridibesh Bandopadhyay said that apart from creating workforce to meet the demand for skilled manpower, InSkills was also looking at international collaborations so that global certification could be provided to the trained students. Bournville College will be involved in providing expertise, the global certification and will also formulate the curriculum for the courses. Even though they might not be able to change the existing curriculum, they will add more material to the course to make it better.

The skill development will focus on four sectors:  hospitality, health care, tourism and construction and engineering. Most of the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the State are situated in the rural regions. Bandopadhyay said even though there is a lot of government money available, there is an acute lack of quality training institutes in the State. InSkills is trying to bridge that gap.

They have a small network of 10 ITIs in the State and will expand gradually. Most of the courses at the ITI will be free of cost or will be provided at a subsidised rate. InSkills has also initiated a discussion with the Department of Technical Education and Training in the State for adopting a few Industrial Training Centres (ITC) to  impart the training better. A large section of the students will benefit from this kind of training making them better prepared for employment.

Their Millennium ITC campus at Khurda presently has 134 regular students. They will gradually increase the number, informed InSkills director DK Mishra.
