BHUBANESWAR: Two youths, who had allegedly opened fire on a resident of Salia Sahi here on Monday night, were arrested by Nayapalli Police on Saturday. The .9 mm pistol, which was used, and live ammunition were seized from their possession.

The two have been identified as Dhananjay Nayak and Sagar Nayak. Dhananjay is the son of a realtor and wanted to be a local bully while Sagar worked for him.

Police said Dhananjay had fired two rounds at Kuna Digal near Gandhi Market Square. However, Kuna took one bullet.

Investigation revealed that Sagar’s brother had a past dispute with Kuna over some trifle. Since Dhananjay wanted to flex his muscles, he asked Sagar to keep tabs on Kuna so that they could settle the old score with the latter. On Monday evening, when Kuna was going home on his cycle, Dhananjay allegedly fired at him and fled with Sagar.

They have been booked under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code and Section 25/27 of the Arms Act.
