BHUBANESWAR: Former director of Dalmia Institute of Scientific Research (DISIR) and noted scientist JD Panda passed away here recently. Panda was well-known for his innovations in the ceramic and cement industry.
He was instrumental in the development of improved ceramic radomes for Trishul, Nag, Akash and Prithvi missiles by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) in association with DISIR.
Panda was also conferred with the Best Scientist Award by the Orissa Science Department in 2003 and recipient of many other national and international awards.
