BHUBANESWAR: The MLAs of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and demanded appropriate action against those involved in the attack on party colleague from Dhenkanal Nabin Nanda during repolling on February 20. The MLAs demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident and security for Nanda.

They apprised the Chief Minister of the stand taken by Dhenkanal SP Satish Gajbhiye towards the incident and his announcement that he would arrest the Dhenkanal MLA after getting permission from the Speaker.

Leader of the NCP Legislature Party Amar Prasad Satpathy said the Chief Minister assured them of appropriate action in this matter.

COMPLAINT TO SPEAKER : Meanwhile, Nanda on Wednesday submitted a written complaint about the incident to Speaker Pradip Amat and sought protection.   Nanda said if his FIR on the incident is not registered by evening he will sit on a dharna in the well of the Assembly from Thursday.

The incident sparked off noisy scenes in the Assembly with Opposition Congress members shouting slogans over the issue along with other demands.
