KENDRAPRA: Lightning, accompanied by gale, struck one dead and injured another at Rajnagar tehsil of Kendrapara district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Jaladhar Rout (45) of Tarapada.
At least 12 families were rendered homeless at Endulapur as roofs of their huts were blown away in the gale.District Collector Pradipta Kumar Patnaik said ` 1 lakh ex gratia has been sanctioned to the kin of the deceased. Local tehsildar Bhabatarana Sahoo rushed to the spot and made an assessment of the situation.
