BHUBANESWAR: As the Pipili issue continues to rage, a girl from Balasore on Saturday filed a petition before the OHRC alleging that she had been subjected to a similar sexual assault, but police are not taking any action.
The girl also alleged that the accused had clicked objectionable pictures of her and circulated them through MMS via mobile phones. She presented her case before the Member, OHRC, RN Bohidar. The incident, according to her, took place on September 25 in Simulia forests under Khaira Police limits. She was going to the local temple when Laxmidhar Nayak, Pradeep Jena, Ramesh Sahu and Pitamber Jena allegedly forcibly took her to the jungle and gagged her. While Ramesh and Pitamber left the place, Laxmidhar and Pradeep allegedly raped the girl and threatened to kill her if she confided in anyone about the matter.
The two accused allegedly took pictures of her which were later circulated. The girl, in her petition, submitted that she had mentioned the date of occurrence in the FIR as November 2 out of fear. Though the FIR was lodged and registered on November 3, no action against the accused has been taken yet, she said. Talking to mediapersons here, the girl and her aunt alleged that the main accused Laxmidhar is son of the local sarpanch and there is strong pressure on cops from powers-that-be to hush up the case.
