BHUBANESWAR: Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra inaugurated the state-of-the-art Sandy’s Tower Hotel in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

The six-storey building, which has 73 rooms, is spread over four acres of land and boasts of features that no other hotel chain has in Odisha. Designed by the architect from Delhi Kavi Jain and  targeted at the upper middle class section of the population, the hotel offers all  amenities that any star hotel provides.

Built in a compact fashion, intelligent space utilisation is the major attraction of the hotel. Each room has access to natural light and the building is fully eco-friendly.

“Even though initially it is a capital intensive investment, gradually the cost will be low for us,” said Jain. The project cost ` 32 crore, said executive director of finance Vijay Das.

Pyari Mohan was guided through the hotel after inauguration and impressed with the interiors and infrastructure. The hotel has a lobby where special orthodox tea will be served, a swimming pool in the second floor called ‘Sandy Deck’ and a conference hall ‘Utopia’.

The hotel can cater to 5,000 people at a time. “We have given special attention to the services offered at the hotel. We have recruited local people and we will train them to provide international level hospitality,” said executive director Arun Agarwal.

The managing director of the hotel, Sanjeev Patra, said the rooms would be available at a special promotional price for the first three months.
