BHUBANESWAR: Enraged over their MLA Jhina Hikaka’s abduction, locals detained a passenger train at Laxmipur for over seven hours on Saturday. The Rayagada-Koraput Passenger Train was detained from 11.45 am to 6.45 pm by the locals of Laxmipur, demanding release of the MLA.
The agitation led to disruption in train movement along the single-line route. The Koraput-Visakhapatnam Inter City Express, which was flagged off on Saturday, was controlled at Damanjodi for several hours.
The Hirakhand Express, set to be cancelled because of the blockade, was allowed to proceed in the last moment after the stir was called off.
