BHUBANESWAR: Kaushalya Hikaka was too shocked to react when she was informed by a relative on Saturday morning that her husband and first-time MLA Jhina Hikaka had been kidnapped last night. A relative saw the official vehicle and found out that the 37-year-old MLA has been abducted. Kaushalya is hopeful that her husband will be freed unharmed given his popularity among the tribals since 2009 when he was elected to the Assembly for the first time. Her biggest consolation of the day came when she received a call from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the morning. Jhina was not only an MLA of the Biju Janata Dal, he was also a member of the Biju family, she said, quoting Naveen. “The Chief Minister said, for him, Jhina was like a son and he will do everything to free him from the clutches of the abductors,” Kaushalya said.
