BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s appeal to the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh (CMAS) for negotiations over abduction of Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka has irked the outfit. A day earlier it had asserted that it had nothing to do with the incident.

Co-advisor of CMAS Dandapani Mohanty, one of the two negotiators for release of Italian Paolo Bosusco, said the announcement appeal is misleading.

“CMAS is a democratic organisation and has no link with the Maoists. It is neither a frontal organisation of CPI (Maoist) nor has anything to do with the abduction for which the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee has already claimed responsibility,” he told mediapersons here.

He said the core committee of CMAS will take a call on the negotiations.
