Children’s Day

The day was celebrated in DAV Public School, Unit-8 with eclat and fervour. Various activities were conducted by the teachers to entertain the students. The children’s ‘Fete’ organised by teachers and parents was the attraction of the day. Principal of the school Bhagyabati Nayak addressed the gathering followed by slokas, prayer, news, thought, speech, students’ pledge which were conducted by the teachers for the assembly.

St Mary’s Little Steps

Children’s Day was also celebrated at St Mary’s  Little Steps. Coinciding with the celebrations, on November 17, the school organised a series of inter school competetions in various  topics. Over 250 children from 14 schools participated. Eminent educationist and author Mariam Haque distributed the prizes in the presence of Jasbir Kaur, principal of the school.

Chhatt festival celebrated

Maha Surya Shasti Vrata (Chhatt Puja) is being celebrated in Odisha with great enthusiasm. The festival, dedicated to the worship of Sun God symbolises life force, and prosperity.

The celebration of Chhatt Puja by the devotees on the banks of the rivers is being seen from 19th of this month. The festival is marked by offerings to the Sun God in the evenings and concludes next morning with the offering to the first ray of the sun. During the festival both men and women fast and offer special prayers for the welfare and prosperity of their family.

Since the last 11 years, Bihar Social Welfare Association Society (BISWAS) is organising Chhatt Puja with lots of enthusiasm on the banks of river Kuakhai, said Sanjay Jha, president, BISWAS.

Seminar on global economic scenario

International School of Business Management (ISBM), a leading B-School held a national seminar on November 17 on India Inc. and Global Economic Scenario. Inaugurated by professor V. Gangadhar, former Vice Chancellor, MG University, Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, Professor Umesh Patnaik, Director, ISBM introduced the theme of the event while the ceremony was presided over by Ajay Bahadur Singh, Chairman, ISBM.

Umang 2012

Umang, a district level rural marketing event was organised by Institute of Management and Information Science (IMIS), Bhubaneswar - one of the prominent B-schools of the eastern region in association with Young Indians popularly known as Yi; an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The journey that commenced in 2009 at Balipatna, Odisha was organised this year on November 17 and 18 at Pratap Sasan Girls’ High

School, Balakati, in Khurda district.

Among the distinguished guests present at the inauguration of the event were Advisor, IMIS Prof KK Beuria, and Director, IMIS - Prof KC Padhy. The president of the Zila Parishad Meenakshi Sahu, Block Chairman - Kabita Manjari Parida and Sarpanch - Sulochana Bhoi were also present on the occasion.
