2 shot at over liquor business

Gang war over control of country liquor business in the city flared up on Wednesday night when two persons were shot at by rivals at Bidanasi.

 The two, Tapas Choudhury and Alok Sahoo alias Pintu, have been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital with bullet injuries.

Tapas Choudhury has been shot in the stomach while Pintu sustained injuries in the thigh. Police has detained about six persons in the connection.

 According to reports, tension had been running high in the region with the gangs gunning for the liquor business and extortion from the dealers.

On Wednesday night, Tapas and Alok were reportedly cornered by the rival gang near a country liquor vend on the ring embankment and were shot at. The rivals were allegedly led by one Keshab Sasmal of Bidanasi area.

Police has launched a hunt for the miscreants while detaining around six persons for questioning.
