Youth held for girlfriend’s murder

A youth charged with murdering his girlfriend was remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.

Reports said Birmitrapur Police recovered a girl’s body along the railway track at an isolated location of Talsara village in Sundargarh district, on Wednesday. She had gone missing on Sunday. 

Birmitrapur Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Suman Dutta said on the complaint of the girl’s father, a murder case has been registered.

The accused, Ramnavami Kargi (22), had told the police that the girl died after being hit by a train while she was inattentively seated on the track.

He had not reported her death out of fear.

The SDPO said they are verifying the facts and waiting for the autopsy report for vital clues.
