Congress, BJD on public contact mode

In the wake of the changing political scenario in the national and Odisha politics, the BJD and Congress have intensified public contact exercises in the politically crucial Sundargarh Parliamentary Constituency.

Sources said besides the Parivartan Yatra of the Congress, the Sundargarh MP and former chief minister Hemanand Biswal on Saturday covered Rourkela’s largest slum clusters at Malgodam, Gopabandhupali, Madhusudanpali and Timber Colony. The four Congress MLAs are also busy covering areas elsewhere in Sundargarh district.

Rajgangpur Congress MLA Gregory Minz said in a shift from the earlier decision, they would continue  with the ‘Parivartan Yatra’ till the end of November to enlighten people about the need to remove the Naveen Patnaik-led government.

The BJD, on the other hand, launched Jan Sampark Yatra on October 2, as a part of its State-wide strategy to apprise people of the welfare schemes of the State Government and the step-motherly attitude of the Centre and its involvement in various scams.

Accordingly, BJD Minister Subrat Tarai on Saturday covered parts of his Assembly constituency. Rourkela BJD MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak, Rourkela Development Authority Chairman Dayanidhi Kisan and a host of other BJD leaders too are covering other areas.

BJP BUSY WITH PARTY POLLS: Amidst all the hullabaloo, the BJP led by its Odisha president seems out of action.

Panposh organisational district president Dhiren Senapati said the BJP is stuck due to the organisational elections. He said the block and district-level elections would be wrapped up by October 17 and the State election in November.

The party would then embark on a drive to reach out to the people and stake its claim as the best alternative for the corrupt Congress at the Centre and BJD in the State, he added.
