Congress leader alleges police atrocity

Jeypore Town Congress president Nari Mohanty alleged police atrocity in a press statement here on Sunday. 

Mohanty, who was arrested by Koraput police three days back for allegedly waving black flag at a meeting of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, alleged that policemen barged into his house at Chandanbad street late on Saturday.

He further alleged that they broke the gates to enter his house. The police left hurriedly on arrival of media, he said, demanding a probe into the entire episode. The local police, however, denied knowledge of the incident.

HSC Zonal office inaugurated

The School and Mass Education Department opened a zonal office of the Higher Secondary board here on Sunday. It was inaugurated by School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda.

The zonal office would cater to needs of about 35,000 students of the undivided Koraput region. Among others, Koraput MP Jayraram Pangi, senior BJD leaders Bishnu Patra and Anup patra were present.
