Grocer looted

Two unidentified youths robbed a grocer of Rs 1.5 lakh after knocking her out with chloroform in Salia Sahi area on Tuesday night. The incident came to light in the morning when the victim’s son returned home.

Mama Champati, the store owner, was alone at the shop-cum-home when two youths came and asked for cigarettes. When she was busy getting the cigarettes, the two used a chloroform-laced cloth to leave Mama unconscious.

Police said, the miscreants robber Mama of her jewellery, cleaned up the cash box and went into the house where they found more cash in the chest. The total loss was to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakh.

The victim’s husband Jayakrushna was away in Bhopal on work while son Dipu too was not at home. When Dipu returned home in the morning, he found his mother in a state of unconsciousness and rushed her to the hospital. No one has been arrested yet.

Chain-snatching

Two youths allegedly snatched a gold necklace from a woman at Kalinga Vihar in the wee hours of Wednesday. Lalita Manjari Sahu, the complainant, was collecting flowers during the small hours when the miscreants robbed her. She told Khandagiri Police that the two carried sharp weapons.
