A woman has been rescued by her family members after being confined in a house for five days by her in-laws. The victim, Kumari Nayak, married to one Dibakar Nayak of Karapada under Ganjam police limits, was tortured physically for dowry and not given food.
For the last five days Kumari was locked up in a room due to which she took ill. Her neighbours, who got a wind of it, informed her father, who rushed to her rescue on Tuesday and lodged a complaint. Kumari’s father Tarini Nayak approached Ganjam SP who directed the police to accept the complaint. She was rushed to Ganjam hospital and later shifted to Chhatrapur hospital.
