The Phulbani town police on Thursday evening arrested Lambodar Konhar from his house and produced him before the SDJM, Phulbani.
The arrest came following FIRs filed against Konhar, secretary of District Kui Coordination Committee, by the Sikhya Sahayaks assaulted on Tuesday. Sabita Nayak of Phulbani, Bilasa Behera of Boudh and Sudhanshu Kumar Bhadra of Jajpur had alleged that the outside candidates who had come to Phulbani for certificate verification were manhandled and abused by the some miscreants on Tuesday.
The SDJM, Manoj Kumar, has rejected all the three bail applications filed by the lawyer of Konhar and remanded him in judicial custody.
Adequate security arrangements were made on the court premises to avoid any untoward incident.
