The Central Election Officer of the BJP on Thursday issued a written communication to the party’s State unit to stop the organisational election until further instruction.
“Please suspend the organisational election of the State BJP until further instruction and send the list of general and active members enrolled so far,” CEO Thabarchand Gehlot said in an official communique to State BJP election officer Basanta Kumar Panda.
The written communication from Gehlot was necessitated following complaints that organisational election is being conducted in the State despite clear instructions to suspend the electioneering process. “This for the first time that organisational election of the BJP was called off mid-way in the 32-year history of the party,” said a senior BJP leader adding, the instruction of the central election officer has not been communicated to the districts.
