A senior officer of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Debasish Sinha (50), was on Thursday night found hanging at the company’s Basundhara guest house under Hemgir police limits in the district.
Reports said Sinha had joined the Basundhara-Garjanbhal area as Chief Manager (Electrical & Mechanical) about seven months back and was staying alone. His death came to light after his family members trying frenetically to contact him found his mobile phone switched off and sought help of local MCL authorities on Thursday evening.
As his suite was locked from inside, the guest house employees peeped through the skylight only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan.
Hemgir police station IIC Bijay Nanda said Sinha’s family members are on their way from Ranchi and the room would be opened in their presence.
He added that Sinha was last seen having dinner on Wednesday night but had not reported for duty for the past one week.
