The joy of festivity doubles as the flavours of Delhi come alive in the city with Delhi Haat, a shopping cum food festival that promises unlimited fun and excitement. Be it the lip smacking and finger-licking street food of Delhi, the shopping stalls or the surprise gifts and lucky draws, this action-packed festival, organised at Pal Heights, is bound to lift festive spirits to a new high.
Food being one of the major highlights of the festival, a chef has been flown in from Delhi for a tantalizing treat that includes different varieties of chaat - the Delhi chaat thali, palak chaat and the interesting tokri chaat, suji and atta gupchup, pav bhaji, Delhi ki tikki, chole bhature, samosa and a wide range of pakodas including bread, paneer, palak and mix veg pakodas that too within a price range of Rs 30 to Rs 100. Like any street food, everything is prepared live at the food court.
Besides food, stalls such as those for suit pieces, bangles and jewellery are other added attractions.
Besides the variety of bangles in different colours and designs, one can also order multi-coloured bangles and see them being made live at the counter in 15 minutes, which is a one of its kind experience. The suit sets all for ` 1200 are a collection of latest print designs in pure cotton with lace designed dupattas while the jewellery counter has everything from bangles to earrings, necklaces, finger rings and bracelets made of pearl, emerald and ruby - all within a range of Rs 250 to Rs 5000.
A counter dedicated to nail art is another glittering highlight of the festival. This apart, in a bid to try out something new, a craftsman has been brought from Delhi who, for ` 100, can engrave your name on a rice grain and for Rs 150 on a pearl. Amidst all this, one can also find a card reader seated with its parrot ‘Naina’ who picks up a card to predict your future for Rs 50!
The action doesn’t end here. There is a lucky draw for all those people who shop for at least Rs 1000 or more. And, the prizes range from a Honda Dream Yuga to tickets to Bangkok. One could also end up owning an LCD TV, refrigerator, washing machine or microwave. Music and games are also an integral part of this festival.
Says Harman Pal, Director, Pal Heights, ‘‘Since puja is a time when people from all over the State plan vacations and Delhi is a popular destination, we thought we would bring glimpses of Delhi right here for people to enjoy and relish.’’ The festival that kicked off from October 17 will continue till November 13.
